Lovely image, panel one, of Bree finally hugging Sephni. Still got to get to the Jen/Bree question with Brian, if Imugi lets him get a word in edge-ways. Meantime, meaningful dialogue from Warmheart that implies Markho, too, is not ‘native’ to this D&D Elves-and-dragons world, or at least the version perhaps that exists now. So who, or what, is Markho? And what about the High Elf lands? Does Sephni have to ‘lift’ her “happy Ever After” spell, if that was hers in the first place. I still think it was, a last attempt to save her people from Draxx.
Doublegee, I think you’re readingit backwards. The dialog implies that “they”, the ones “not of this world”, is the ones who have won; and now, quoting Warmie, “you and me” (Markho and herself, part of “the ones who ARE of that world” – remember that Warmie is *MOST DEFINITELY* not an avatar but an original part of the Delve world) are left to mak sense of a world that has changed due to the avatar’s actions.
Fair point. Certainly Bree, Imugi and now Brian are from outside the Delve world, fully or in part. That leaves Sephni, but she seemed to show awareness of Bree’s true identity several times (like their encounter with the dragons, and Bree/Jen was injured), perhaps being Draxx’s puppet. But Warmheart did have her own suspicions about Markho, as did Bree/Jen. So, yes, upon reflection, the remark could be taken the way you suggest. Certainly the Delve world is now changed forever. Will we see Mala Greenboot and her pals again, I wonder?
Dunno, with extreme prejudice, on the “warmie suspects Markho is an avatar” thing.
The extent of her “suspictions” is the “Are you CERTAIN he is an Orc?” (https://delvecomic.com/comic/airspeed-velocity/) which is more of a surprise at how polite and well-spoken he is compared with other Orcs and with how rude he was a second ago…
And in case that was not enough to prove Markho does NOT need to be an avatar to be polite, that scene is quite speedily followed by Bree actually disproving it (https://delvecomic.com/comic/high-flyers/)
Sephni seems to be originally from the Delve world, but got kind of … unanchored? By her experiences with the cultists (killed horribly over and over until she broke basically), and then further unanchored after being dragged to the greyside by Draxx’s avatar to use as bait for Brian. She may be aware of things she’d otherwise not due to, as Sir Terry Pratchett would have said “A detached retina in the third eye”.
I’ve noticed a subtle change in your artwork over the last few pages. I can’t exactly put my finger on it but it’s better and I quite like it. I’ve been following Delve from the beginning and it’s a treat to watch an artist change and improve over the years. Thanks so much for your work.
He abandoned the glossy style, which is IMO a good idea (never liked it much) and went back to simpler drawing style, yet very improved if you compare with early chapters (simpler colors and lines but well balanced and no loss of detail). A mature artist, I guess.
I’d guess it’s an intentional stylistic shift. It began when Brian first arrived in this world and visually everything since then has felt more “defined” like things aren’t “just” a comic anymore and is closer to the style used when Brian was DMing the world as a DM running everything. I’d say this is wholely intentional because we’re visually seeing Brain’s effect on this world he created by *being* there.
Over time, all artists’ styles subtly change (well, not all, there is one who hasn’t changed in 15 years, and still makes errors they refuse to admit to)

Indeed. Our artist really should expand on it and provide a full-sized reproduction.

…not that we don’t have specific examples of 100% Delver, polite, well-spoken Orcs (https://delvecomic.com/comic/otherworldly-wisdom/) or Goblins (https://delvecomic.com/comic/hasenpfeffer/) before…

I see that Warmie has quickly realized Brian is a DM, but not “the” DracoMage

The most notable change is Wamie’s face
I love her expression and pose in panel two. But Mr Hunter was always good at facial expressions.”
I think it’s the faces/expressions. Wormius has definitely leveled up in his art, no question.

Surprised Warmie isn’t over there telling Imugi to get in line 😛
