So I guess the full sentence would have been “you taught me a really valuable trick” because he probably wouldn’t have gained this special talent without the death of Neal and Mandy.
And that’s the end of the last of Paul’s fear buddies.
That was some kind of valuable lesson he learned there, and whatever was eating at him is now eating at the monster thing…creature. What is it, anyway!
With “Delve” always expect the unexpected. You can never say the story plot is predictable!
Paul had one last trick up his ragged sleeve. What does that say about Brian’s fear of death? No idea! But – hey! – if you gotta go, it was a cool way to do it!
Great to see our Bree, fighting-fit, dagger-slashing, and near naked! But that’s not an Orc Thunder Clan collar she’s wearing.
Maybe with the passing of Paul, Brian might be a little braver?
But just because he may no longer be afraid of dying, don’t mean he’s suddenly gonna became all reckless and stupid (too little fear can be just as bad as having too much, needs a nice balance)
You know, the MC of one of my books actually complains of this. She has a pathological case of being literally unafraid whenever she is holding a sword (childhood PTSD results), and complains that part of being unafraid is being unafraid of death, but that she would very much want to stay alive to keep caring of the people she is caring of, which forces her to use every drop of wit she has every time she actually is in combat.
Hey, if you happen to read the book and recognice her, you’ll know I just doxed myself 🙂
I have to wonder if this is how Imoogi lost some of her humanity, or if this is a Brian exclusive due to being on the grey side. For Bree it was a fusion of her two halves. But the other characters asserted it was a one person or the other thing. I’m genuinely curious about the mechanics at play here since it seems more like a journey then a set method. Given each person from grey side has had a different set of circumstances with this stuff.

Whoah, redemption!
Someone’s got a case of Mummy Rot !
Well, we’ve learned an important lesson, folks…never touch something (or someone in this case) if you don’t know where it’s been.
